Facilities/Hire

You can be close to the action watching football at our home, the JRL Brickwork Stadium. With access around the full perimeter of the pitch and a main stand seating area behind the dugouts, we offer a great experience for the avid non-league football fan.

We have recently developed and improved our facilities with the building of a new clubhouse extension that features bigger changing rooms and additional hospitality space, along with added expansion and improvements to the kitchen area which provides service for our matchday cafe.

In addition the club has also benefited from the building of a new West Stand, to improve comfort for supporters and spectators, providing extra protection from the elements and an elevated view when watching our home fixtures. The project was funded by the Moy Park Community Support Fund with the aim to improve the overall matchday experience we provide for local football fans.

We have an active clubhouse which operates as a sports and social club in the evenings and open 7 days a week, providing continued hospitality, socialising and community events throughout the year.

The clubhouse is frequently hired for private parties, functions and events due to its warm, cosy and welcoming, pub like feel, complete with large on wall television, jukebox, pool table and darts board. In addition our new hospitality suite is also available for hire as an alternative smaller function space. We love to host kids football themed parties and will do our best to accommodate requests for footballing activities on our pitches (subject to the weather and our fixtures schedule). To discuss or hire our facilites, please send an email by clicking the email icon at the top of the page, or alternatively visit one of our social media channels and send a message directly. Club history

The club was established in 1949 by two local brothers Herbert and Charlie Craft. After the Second World War the brothers returned to Harrowby in Grantham where they were soon to learn of some local youngsters who wanted to play football, circa 1948.With this in mind, Harrowby United Football Club was formed and the first games were played on a field which is now occupied by Sharpe Road and the shops on New Beacon Road, before moving over the road to a field now occupied by Brittain Drive, a stones throw from the clubs current location.Herbert would become the clubs first Secretary in 1949 and contacted Aston Villa FC asking for a kit as the team wanted to adopt the same club colours however, after a disappointing response the club eventually settled for blue and white which remained the clubs official colours for many years.

Initially the team played in the Grantham & District League before joining Division 1 of the Central Alliance in 1967. However, after a single season in the Central Alliance the club transferred to Division 1 of the East Midlands League.

A fifth place finish in 1973-74 saw Harrowby promoted to the Premier Division. The league became the Midlands Regional Alliance in 1985 and the club won the Premier Division and Challenge Cup double in 1989-90. The club subsequently moved up to Division 1 of the United Counties League.

Although the club won the Division 1 title in 1991-92, it was unable to take a promotion to the Premier Division. However, after finishing as Division 1 runners-up in 2002-03, the club was promoted to the Premier Division.

In 2009 after a period of changes and uncertainty the club was renamed to Grantham Rangers and played one season in the Supreme Division of the Central Midlands League but disbanded soon after the end of the season.

In 2012 a new Harrowby United was established when Grantham & District League champions Beehive United changed their name to Harrowby United upon taking promotion to Division 1 of the United Counties League. In 2013-14 a third place finish saw the club promoted to the Premier Division, but then relegated back to Division 1 where the club has since remained, but with aspirations of again gaining promotion.

'The Arrows' comes from an abbreviation made by supporters from the word 'arrowby, which was first shouted from the sidelines by supporters many years ago. Also the word arrow forms part of the name Harrowby. The nickname was formally adopted by the club around the late 1980's.

The club badge has evolved over the years, as have the clubs kit colours. The kit colours originally started as blue and white (as mentioned above), then changed to red and black after the club reformed. The colours then changed again to what is currently an all royal blue home kit with the badge following suit, but incorporating a touch of yellow to signify a new era at Harrowby United FC.
